High abundance but low diversity of floral visitors on invasive Heracleum mantegazzianum (Apiaceae)

چکیده
Currently, plant invasions affect native ecosystems across the Earth. Although much attention has already been paid to their effect on local communities, we still lack basic information associations between alien and species. Here, present results of our survey pollinators invasive Heracleum mantegazzianum (Apiaceae) in central Europe. At 20 sites within westernmost part Czech Republic, which is strongly affected by invasion H. , flowers were examined compared species composition vegetation surrounding area. While frequently visited high abundance insects, communities relatively poor, proportion abundances was very uneven, with few generalist Diptera honey bee ( Apis mellifera ) dominating over all other flower visitors. Significantly larger family Syrphidae giant hogweed than plants. Thus, not a necessary for visiting it should be eradicated because its negative effects plants, landscape humans. Our highlight need more detailed studies direct interactions pollinator as well indirect plants through competition pollinators.

Non-Additive Effects of Genotypic Diversity Increase Floral Abundance and Abundance of Floral Visitors
BACKGROUND In the emerging field of community and ecosystem genetics, genetic variation and diversity in dominant plant species have been shown to play fundamental roles in maintaining biodiversity and ecosystem function. However, the importance of intraspecific genetic variation and diversity to floral abundance and pollinator visitation has received little attention. METHODOLOGY/PRINCIPAL F...
متن کاملA set of primers for plastid indels and nuclear microsatellites in the invasive plant Heracleum mantegazzianum (Apiaceae) and their transferability to Heracleum sphondylium.
This study reports the isolation and polymorphism characterization of four plastid indels and six nuclear microsatellite loci in the invasive plant Heracleum mantegazzianum. These markers were tested in 27 individuals from two distant H. mantegazzianum populations. Plastid indels revealed the presence of five chlorotypes while five nuclear microsatellite loci rendered polymorphism. Applications...

Population age structure and reproductive behavior of the monocarpic perennial Heracleum mantegazzianum (Apiaceae) in its native and invaded distribution ranges.
Many invasive species are benign in their native region-are there interactions between their key traits and the new habitats that explain invasion success? The giant perennial herb Heracleum mantegazzianum is a problematic invader in Europe and is also naturalized in North America. We compared its population structure and reproductive behavior in the native (W. Caucasus) and invaded (Czech Repu...
